Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement for 27th ICOM General Conference 2025

This accessibility statement applies to 27th ICOM General Conference 2025 website. It does not cover any subdomains or other content.

This website is run by the International conference of museums (ICOM). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen and without content being truncated or overlapping. Note that there may be issues with the main navigation at higher levels of zoom, and people are encouraged to use the links at the bottom of the page instead.
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Accessibility toolbar

We have added an accessibility tool that may help some people to use the website. In particular:

  • If your screen reader does not announce some content, then use the one in the accessibility toolbar
  • If you are distracted by animations on the website, the accessibility toolbar allows you to pause those animations
  • If you have trouble reading the website because of the colour scheme, then the accessibility toolbar includes a range of alternative designs

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some images throughout the website do not have appropriate text alternatives.
  • Links in the main navigation receive keyboard focus whether displayed on the screen or not.
  • On the Programme page, controls to expand and collapse panels in the mobile layout are still in the focus order in the desktop layout. We plan to replace this component and will check that this resolves the issue.
  • On the Contact us page, the role of the listbox containing country telephone codes cannot be programmatically determined.
  • With the browser window width set to 1280px and magnification at 400%, not all of the links in the main navigation are visible and the component cannot be scrolled. People affected by this issue are encouraged to use the links at the bottom of the page.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact: [provide both details of how to report these issues to your organisation, and contact details for the unit or person responsible for dealing with these reports].

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 17 April 2025. It was last reviewed on 22 April 2025.

This website was last tested on 17 April 2025. The test was carried out by DASS Solutions.

We used this approach to deciding on a sample of pages to test:

We followed GOV.UK guidance on deciding how to check the ICOM website as follows:

  1. We used an automated website mapping tool to identify all the pages on the website.
  2. We grouped the pages according to type.
  3. We manually assessed a number of pages from each group to determine the level of consistency within the group and the type of content on those pages.
  4. We manually assessed all the “unique” pages such as the home page and Contact Us to determine the type of content on those pages.
  5. We identified a minimum representative subset of pages that contain examples of the most common layouts, components and features, including:
    1. The header and footer.
    2. Important “unique pages”.
    3. Pages with text content and data tables.
    4. Pages with informational images, images of text and video content.
    5. Interactive elements such as forms, tabbed interfaces, carousels and hide / reveal functionality.
    6. AJAX content loading.
  6. We conducted a manual WCAG audit on the representative subset of pages.
  7. We conducted one round of fixing and retesting, such that most WCAG non-conformances have been fixed.
